Oden is known around the cul-de-sac as big dog.

The husky German shepherd played with children in the neighborhood and was typically not aggressive, until Thursday.

Oden’s family came home to find the walls, stairs, floors and doors spattered with blood, evidence left behind after a would-be robber was discovered by the guard dog.

"We noticed something when we walked in, when I walked in with my mother and there is blood spots on the ground, we looked up stairs and you see trails of blood coming from up stairs going all the way down," dog owner Tristan Murrin told WRIC.

Oden was not hurt in the scuffle.

"I think the dog did its job. He knew that someone was not supposed to be in my house and no one was home and he knows that he wasn't supposed to be in there and he was doing something that he wasn't supposed to be doing and so he knew to act upon it," Murrin told WRIC.

Because of the amount of blood, the family believes the suspect needed medical attention. Police are investigating. No arrests have been made.
