The Wang family's dog, Moses, was taken to Tazewell County Animal Control to be quarantined after biting a maintenance worker who was in the family's backyard a few weeks ago, WMBD reported.

On Thursday, family members got a call from Animal Control telling them that Moses was dead.

"They said that they would like to keep him for 10 days under quarantine to make sure that everything was safe with him," Jennifer Wang told WMBD. "If he needed to be euthanized, which he wasn't, he deserved to be with his family. We should've been the last face he seen, instead of a stranger poking him with a stick."

Officials are reviewing Animal Control policies and procedures to prevent future similar accidents.
