The 2016 ESPY awards, ESPN's annual celebration of sports and celebrities, is set to air Wednesday night, with tributes to those who have shown outstanding courage and awesome performances in their sports.
One of the most talked about awards each year – the Arthur Ashe Courage Award – will be presented to the family of Zaevion William Dobson. Dobson who was a student at Fulton High School in Knoxville, Tenn., lost his life when he shielded friends from gunfire that broke out at a party.
Dobson was 15 when he was killed. He played on the Fulton High football team. He will join other winners such as Nelson Mandela, Jim Valvano, Pat Summitt, and a group of men who were killed on Flight 93 on 9/11 in receiving the night's most prestigious award.
Another moment that is always poignant is when the Jimmy V Perseverance Award is given. This year, the award will go to NBA broadcaster Craig Sager. Sager is battling leukemia.

When: "2016 ESPYs Countdown" will air at 7 p.m. (ET). The ESPYs awards ceremony will air beginning at 8 p.m. (ET)
