EMS worker dies of heart attack after responding to daughter's wreck

A New Jersey emergency medical services worker died of a heart attack Sunday after helping treat his daughter, who had been hurt in a traffic accident.

WTVR reported that Capt. Scott Danielson headed to the site of the crash that happened at 3 p.m. Saturday.

When he arrived, he helped treat his 19-year-old daughter, Alycia, and another person who were injured in the accident.

Danielson then went to the hospital to to check on his daughter and had a heart attack while in the waiting room.

He was airlifted to another hospital at 4:34 p.m. but later died.

His daughter was released from the hospital.

Besides Alycia, Danielson is survived by his wife, Tammy, and two other children 21-year-old Amanda and 28-year-old Aaron.

The Washington Township Police Department said in a statement: “Captain Danielson was an invaluable asset to this department and many other public safety agencies in Warren County. Scott always put the public's safety first and foremost in his work and he was a true professional. He will be missed by many.”
