In the wake of terror attacks in Brussels at Zaventem airport and the Maalbeek Metro station near the European Union headquarters, the Eiffel Tower lit up Tuesday night in the colors of the Belgian flag in an act of solidarity.
">
Earlier Tuesday, Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo said the French landmark would be illuminated in black, yellow and red.
The Eiffel Tower Twitter account also sent out a message.

"In solidarity and in homage to the Belgian people, (the tower) will illuminate in the Belgian colors," the message translates.
The Eiffel Tower was lit up in the colors of the French flag after the terror attacks in Paris last November. The town hall of Brussels also lit up with the French colors at the Brussels Grand Palace after those attacks.
