A Connecticut college student is facing attempted murder charges, accused of stabbing two classmates during a re-enactment of a scene from the 2004 movie “The Butterfly Effect,” according to news reports.

University of Hartford student Jake Wascher, 21, was working on a group project in a dorm room on campus when the incident happened Sunday afternoon, according to the Hartford Courant.

Washer was apprehended Sunday night in a wooded area near campus and taken into custody.

The two victims were hospitalized with stab wounds, one of them in critical condition.

Wascher first told police he was not acting and was "curious what it would be like to stab someone," the Courant reported. He later told investigators he was acting and that his emotions got the best of him, according to a police report.

Wascher is jailed on $1 million bond.
