Seven dogs taken along with a carjacked minivan belonging to a dog day care in Chicago were rescued Thursday, police said.

Joseph Giannini said two armed men ordered one of the drivers for Urban Out Sitters  to get out of the 2002 Chrysler Town and Country Van on Wednesday afternoon.

Daisy Bower said she looked out the window of her hair salon Thursday and noticed a silver van parked across the street. More than an hour later, she noticed a dog in the front seat. (Source: Chicago Tribune )

"A dog was looking out the window to say, 'Help me' or 'Come get me,' " Bowers said. "So I called 911, and within 10 or 15 minutes they were here and rescued the dogs.

The dogs’ owners searched for their pets through the night, and sympathizers were on edge, worried about the animals.

The dogs were shivering but well once they were rescued and were reunited with their owners by midday Thursday, according to reports.

One of the owners, Tad Tomita, 34, said he heard about the carjacking from his aunt — in Utah! She saw the story on Facebook, Tomita said.
