Stewart, the adorable corgi who played "Cheddar" on the NBC sitcom "Brooklyn Nine-Nine," has died. He was 13.
Stewart's owner announced the news of the Pembroke Welsh Corgi's passing Monday on Instagram. A picture of Stewart sitting in a wagon on a beach was posted with the following text:
"My precious boy Stewart crossed the rainbow bridge today. We went to the beach (his favorite place) where he frolicked in the surf and then enjoyed a picnic lunch of In & Out burgers. We relaxed in the sun and just enjoyed each other's company. Our veterinarian met us there later and Stewart went to sleep peacefully in my arms while listening to the sounds of the ocean. He was a one in a million kind of dog, he was my supaah staah."
Cheddar was a key character on "Brooklyn Nine-Nine," and was known as Captain Holt's (Andre Braugher) "cute secret weapon," according to Deadline. He was the last-minute ring bearer at Jake (Andy Samberg) and Amy's (Melissa Fumero) wedding -- and then passed out after eating the couple's Nakatomi Plaza wedding cake.
While Cheddar was played by a few different dogs over the course of the show, Stewart took on the role the longest, Entertainment Weekly reported. Stewart is survived by his sister, Stella.
Many "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" fans tweeted tributes on Twitter.
