A distraught dog owner is accusing her former dog walker of trading her pit bull Sugar for PCP.
In a lawsuit, Bogle accuses dog walker Tommy Doerr, 46, of trading her beloved dog to drug dealers so he could buy drugs. She claims that when police detained Doerr, he was found in possession of a controlled substance, believed to be PCP.
While Doerr had been her dog walker for three years without issue, witnesses say that on Feb. 23, when Doerr was to be caring for Sugar, they saw Doerr acting strangely. Doerr was hospitalized and his home was searched. Sugar’s collar was found, but the dog was gone.
Bogle wants Doerr to either return the dog or pay $10,000.
The NYPD says no arrests have been made in the case, according to the New York Post.
Doerr’s lawyer claims his client tested negative at the hospital for drugs and has been the victim of false allegations. Doerr admits that the dog went missing in his care, but blames a “psychotic episode” for his actions and says he cannot remember what happened to the dog.
Doerr has countersued Bogle for defamation.
Bogle has launched a massive social media campaign to locate her missing dog. She created the hashtag #FindSugarNYC that has gone viral on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.
