A Texas deputy is recovering from minor injuries after his cruiser collided with a train as he drove through a crossing gate to respond to an emergency call.
According to KOSA-TV, the Midland County sheriff's deputy, whose name was not released, was on his way to the scene of a baby with breathing issues Tuesday afternoon when the crash occurred.
In footage that circulated on social media, the deputy appears to wait for one train to pass before driving past the safety gates with his lights and siren on. As he crosses the tracks, a different train strikes his vehicle.

Another deputy responding to the same call rescued his colleague from the vehicle, KWES-TV reported.
Sheriff Gary Painter said the injured deputy was treated for bruises, as well as head and neck pain.
"Thank God he's not hurt that bad," he told KOSA.
Other emergency personnel took the baby in distress to the hospital, Painter said. The infant appeared to be "doing well," according to KWES.
