A Florida woman was arrested Thursday after deputies said she plotted to kill her ex-husband with the help of a hit man, who she would pay $5,000 to do the job.

Rachael Natalie Leahy, 35, was monitored by the Manatee County Sheriff's Office starting in August after deputies learned that she wanted a hit man to kill her ex-husband, WTVT reports.

An undercover detective contacted Leahy telling her he would do it for $5,000, sheriff's officials said. Leahy paid $2,500 up-front.

According to the Bradenton Herald, Leahy wanted to have her ex-husband killed in order to have custody of their children. WFTS adds that Leahy told the undercover detective that she "thought about having him kidnapped and taken to another country" where he would be made into a sex slave, but admitted that this plan wasn't "a realistic expectation."

Her ex-husband “petitioned for an injunction on behalf of three minors against her” in 2012, but it was dismissed less than three weeks later, the Bradenton Herald added. In 2011, two other domestic violence-related cases were filed by Leahy’s ex-husband against her while she petitioned for an injunction against him, according to the Bradenton Herald.

She was arrested and charged with solicitation of murder on Thursday.
