An NFL player returned to his hometown for the holidays and made a generous gift to customers at a department store.
WBRZ reported that Denver Broncos guard Ron Leary covered all the items on layaway at a Burlington store in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. His foundation, Ronald Leary Reach, partnered with the nonprofit Pay Away the Layaway to surprise more than 30 families. It's the second year of the partnership.
WAFB reported that the store contacted the families who had items on layaway, inviting them to an event in which they could enter to have their balances paid off. Leary's mother was in the store to make a surprise announcement to the group.
“I know you guys were invited here concerning your layaways,” Iris Lear said. “Everybody who was called, their layaway was already paid.”

Car seats, clothes and other items were all paid off.
“I just want to use this platform and be able to help someone less fortunate in my hometown,” Leary told WBRZ. “If I can come help parents put smiles on their kids’ faces, then that's what it's all about.”
Leary will also be giving back to communities in Memphis, Tennessee, where he went to University of Memphis on a football scholarship, and Denver.
