A woman is in custody after police in Las Vegas said she intentionally plowed into pedestrians walking along the Las Vegas Strip Sunday night, injuring 36 people and killing one.

Police identified the driver as 24-year-old Lakeisha Holloway of Oregon.

Here's what we know:

>> Suspect struck pedestrians on the Las Vegas Strip at least twice

Around 6:40 p.m. PST, a woman drove onto a sidewalk two or three separate times near the Paris Hotel and Casino and Planet Hollywood. According to the Clark County Fire Department, the driver struck 37 people.

One of the victims suffered fatal injuries while six others were critically injured. Medics transported 26 people to local hospitals, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said.

>> Police: 'We have determined that this is an intentional act'

At a news conference Sunday night, Las Vegas Metropolitan Deputy Police Chief Brett Zimmerman said authorities did not classify the crash as a terrorist attack.

"What we do know right now: we have determined that this is an intentional act," he said.

The LVMPD homicide unit was investigating the case.

Police planned to comb through surveillance camera footage from hotels and casinos on the Strip. The road remained closed five hours after the collision.

>> Woman in police custody, charges pending

Lt. Dan McGrath, of LVMPD, said Holloway had a 3-year-old child with her in the car when she crashed into pedestrians, he said. The child was not injured.

McGrath said she was driving a 1996 Oldsmobile 4-door car with Oregon plates. On Sunday night she remained in police custody. Authorities expected to charge her Monday. In a press conference, police said she was expected to be charged with one count of murder, NBC News reported.

Police took blood samples from the suspect to determine whether she was under the influence of any drugs or alcohol. The results of those blood tests were not immediately known.

>> Surviving victims in stable condition, most from Montreal

A majority of the injured victims were visiting Las Vegas from Montreal, according to KTNV-TV, including a 21-year-old man in town to celebrate his birthday and Christmas.

By 11:15 p.m. PST, the six critically injured victims were listed in stable condition.

Police said the youngest victim was a seriously injured 11-year-old.

>>  Crash similar to one reported in 2005

The crash was similar to one reported in September 2005, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal. In that case, a car struck 14 people on the Strip in front of Bally's Las Vegas Hotel and Casino.

In October 2007 the driver, Stephen Ressa, was sentenced to hundreds of years in prison for the crash. It happened after Ressa attacked his mother and stole her car from her home in California, according to the paper.
