Ken Kercheval, the actor best known for playing Cliff Barnes on the TV series “Dallas,” has died. He was 83.
A spokeswoman for a funeral home in Kercheval's hometown of Clinton, Indiana, confirmed the death Wednesday to The Hollywood Reporter. Kercheval's talent agent also allegedly confirmed his death.
The actor was born in 1935 in Indiana, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The Internet Movie Database lists Kercheval's date of death as Sunday. His cause of death hasn't been disclosed.
Kercheval portrayed Barnes, the oil tycoon rival to Larry Hagman's J.R. Ewing, on “Dallas” for its entire 1978 to 1991 run. He was one of only two cast members to appear in all seasons of the show, the other being Hagman, according to the Reporter.
Kercheval reprised the Crole for a 1996 TV movie and for the TNT “Dallas” reboot that ran from 2011 to 2014.
The actor’s other major credits included Broadway plays “The Apple Tree,” “Cabaret” and “Fiddler on the Roof;” TV shows “Search for Tomorrow,” “The Secret Storm” and “How to Survive a Marriage;” and films “Network,” “The Seven-Ups” and “F.I.S.T.”
