Having a child isn’t as easy as some people on social media make it seem.
After "Good Morning Idaho" host Spencer Blake and his wife Whitney struggled to conceive for four years, they thought they’d make a “baby announcement" of their own.
To help others in the same situation, the couple from Idaho created "infertility announcements" on their blog, parodying the the pregnancy posts seen on Facebook and Instagram, according to Us Weekly. "Humor has always been one of our coping mechanisms," Spencer Blake said.
According to "Good Morning Idaho," the Blakes, both 30, were diagnosed with "unexplained infertility" in 2011 after undergoing numerous tests and procedures.
"The sorrow of infertility was absolutely crushing," Whitney Blake said. "It used to be such a consuming part of my life. Between the daily doctors’ appointments, kits, pills, drugs and tests … between other people’s baby showers and pregnancy announcements ... it’s kind of hard to forget, even when you’re trying not to dwell."
Despite fertility challenges, the couple has two adopted children. "We wouldn't change that for the world," Spencer Blake said.
