A police officer in Alaska had a close call with a moose and its calf late last month, barely missing a collision on a highway near Anchorage.
Officer Natasha Welch, of the Anchorage Police Department, was driving in her patrol car July 27 when a female moose and its calf darted in front of her, department officials wrote in a Facebook post.
Welch's dashboard camera caught the incident. The adult moose slipped before scrambling onto the median, while the calf darted back to the right-hand side of the road, KTUU reported.
"Officer Welch had a close call the other day while driving in her patrol car," police officials wrote on Facebook." Luckily no one was injured and our Alaskan drivers knew to slow down to a stop. Mama and her calf are OK."
