People in Philadelphia have taken "beating the heat" to a whole new level: Dumpster pool parties.

You read that right. Some hot, sweaty and enterprising Philadelphians clean the giant trash receptacles, line them with tarps and fill them with water from fire hydrants. But the city is now cracking down on the makeshift pools, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer.

The city won't issue permits for block parties that include a 'dumpster pool'.

"You would think this decision would not require an explanation," spokeswoman Karen Guss said in a statement obtained by NBC News.
