Just before 10 p.m. Friday, 26-year-old Chantell Grant and 35-year-old Andrea Stoudemire were standing on a street corner in a neighborhood in Chicago's south side when they were shot, Chicago police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi told media outlets. The shooter or shooters, who were in a blue SUV, haven't been caught.

Police don't believe the women were the target of the shooting, Guglielmi said. A man who was injured in the shooting but survived isn't cooperating with police.

Grant and Stoudemire were involved with Mothers/Men Against Senseless Killings. The two were "occupying" the corner for MASK, engaging the community and offering information on the organization, when they were shot.

"It is terrifying. It is heartbreaking. I haven't slept because I am trying to figure out how we can stop this," MASK founder Tamar Manasseh told the Chicago Sun-Times. "Who's next? I just keep thinking, 'Who's next?'"

Grant was a mother of four, and Stoudemire was a mother of three.

MASK returned to the spot Sunday, and this time people left candles and flowers as tributes to the women, The Washington Post reported.

"WE AREN'T GOING ANYWHERE," Manasseh wrote on a GoFundMe page MASK established. The group is raising reward money for information "that will bring these mother killers to justice."
