They gave a complete stranger the gift of life. A chance meeting has brought them all together.
Donovan Bulger passed away in 2016, but his heart still beats in the body of a father he did not know, CNN reported.
Savannah Roesch, recently attended St. Louis Cardinals’ Donate Life Day. Bulger’s family all wore matching shirts with their loved one’s photo to honor him.
After getting their photo taken, a woman spoke up, asking if they were Bulger's family, CBS News reported.
The woman was the daughter of John Sueme, the man who received Bulger's heart, CNN reported.
The Suemes had written Bulger's family to thank them for the selfless gift. Technically, they're not allowed to exchange names, age or where they live, CBS News reported.
"I followed guidelines. I can't name myself. It was a general letter thanking them for this tremendous gift. Several months later I received a letter from Savannah and enclosed were two pictures of Donovan." Sueme explained to CNN.
Out of the thousands of people at the Cardinals’ game, fate brought them together at the same area of the stadium after Sueme’s daughter, Catherine, saw one of the same photos sent to her father on the T-shirts.
And as one could expect, it was emotional for both families. At one point Sueme allowed Roesch and the rest of the family to put their ears to his chest to feel and hear Donovan's heart still beating, CBS News reported.
