The child was staying with her father at his parents' house for the weekend when the incident occurred Oct. 9, according to the girl’s mother.

The girl’s father reportedly left her on the Ogden-Weber Applied Technology College campus, where a security guard found her abandoned around 7:30 a.m. the next day. The temperature was in the mid-30s.

Security footage shows the girl staying in one spot.

Her mother told KSTU that the father told the girl "to shut up and lay down and go to sleep" before he left the scene.

The school’s security manager, Fred Frazier, said the security guard saw the girl run and injure herself. Her mother said she tripped and scuffed her knee and hand when she fell, trying to get the security guard’s attention.

"It was heartbreaking for him," Frazier told KSTU. "To see a little girl running alone by herself. That's when he got very concerned, and she was shivering and cold."

After an investigation, Ogden police have said it was her father who left her on the campus but haven’t figured out the reason yet. Police added that the Department of Child and Family Services is involved the case.
