The Round Rock Police Department in Texas posted a video to their Facebook page Friday that appears to show police vehicles chasing a loose buffalo down the street. The video is captioned:
"We have been able to get the loose livestock back to its owners. Yes, that is a buffalo our officers and Animal Control secured near Timothy Dr. and Forest Ridge. Thankfully, no one was injured while it was out."
Remember the llama chase that captivated the nation a few weeks ago? This is a little less dramatic, but on this gloomy Friday, we’ll take it. Watch the video below.
Round Rock Police Department later released a statement. Read it below:
"This morning at 7:37 a.m. Round Rock Police and our Animal Control Unit responded to a loose livestock call that was reported at the corner of East Palm Valley and Red Bud Lane. Officers attempted to lure the buffalo to a secure area without incident. The buffalo got loose from a property owner near County Road 123. Although this area is out of our jurisdiction, we will respond and have responded in the past to assist with securing the animal in a safe manner. Apparently, the bison jumps a hotwire and bobbed [sic] wire fence to escape. Yes, two fences. We are happy that no one was hurt. The North American Buffalo is also commonly known as a bison. These animals are large, quick, and could do harm if encountered in the wrong circumstances."
Keep in mind in just speaking with the county, they are still working on this matter with the owner. Please understand we have no authority on the matter and we simply assisted with this incident."
Yes, two fences.
