A disabled woman said she thought she was going to die when the bus she was riding on suddenly burst into flames.

Jean Jeune was transporting Cindy March, who relies on a wheelchair, and her aide when Jeune suddenly smelled smoke, WABC reported.

He told the news station flames erupted from the engine as he pulled over and killed the wheelchair lift.

March screamed, fearing for her life.

She said she’s alive thanks to Jeune, who carried her to safety. The aide also made it out safely, according to WABC.

"Jean's quick actions and lack of concern for his own safety without a doubt saved this lady's life," Plainview Fire Department deputy Robert Salerno told Patch.com.

Fire investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire.
