For some 'Breaking Bad' fans, the finale just wasn’t enough closure.

And that’s exactly what fans in Albuquerque, where the show was filmed, intend on doing. You know, to pay proper respects to a man that that only ever really existed in our hearts and TV screens that is.
The website set up for information reads, "On Saturday October 19, 2013 Walter White mourners are invited to attend a final farewell to the man, the myth and the legend, at his final resting place in Albuquerque, New Mexico." (Via WalterWhiteFuneral.Weebly.com)
At the funeral, 'Breaking Bad's set decorator, Michael Flowers, will deliver the eulogy and afterward attendees can attend the reception at local restaurant Vernon's Steakhouse. (Via KOB-TV)
The funeral procession will start at the site where Breaking Bad's last scene was shot and where fans have set up memorials. (Via Albuquerque Journal)
There will even be a cubic square foot vault — normally used for cremated remains — buried in memorial of Heisenberg. (Via AMC)
The Hollywood Reporter talked to the man who came up with the idea, Jackamoe Buzzell.
He said "I think this pays tribute to his memory, and I think he would love this if he could see it from the heavens."
He sounds like one extraordinarily dedicated fan. But Buzzell didn't just come up with the idea out of the blue, he had some inspiration from Walter White's obituary that was published in the Albuquerque Journal after the show's finale. It says, in part, Walter died, "after a long battle with cancer, and a gunshot wound. ...He will be greatly missed." (Via Albuquerque Journal)
"My favorite part is they call him the co-founder of Gray Matter which is the company he was all bummed about not getting credit for. … I feel like people in Albuquerque are kind of bummed now, I mean this was kind of their claim to fame so it makes since to do an obituary." (Via TMZ)
So back to the actual funeral, it costs $20 to get in and all proceeds will go to Albuquerque Healthcare for the Homeless — which, among other things, helps people who are addicted to drugs like meth. Seems appropriate.
In a statement Vernon's Steakhouse owner said, "This is an enormous opportunity for the Albuquerque community to benefit again from the worldwide phenomenon of Breaking Bad. With this event and the creation of the Vernon's Steakhouse Walter White Endowment Fund at the Albuquerque Community Foundation, Walter White's legacy and final amends will have a positive impact on Albuquerque for many years to come." So take solace that Walter White will be properly laid to rest and won’t spend all of TV eternity laying on the floor of that meth lab.
