A South Carolina family is mourning the loss of twin boys after they died one day after each other following a drowning in a pool Saturday.

The Independent Mail reported that Ezekiel and Caleb Marcengill, both 3, were at a party in Anderson, South Carolina, with their parents Dawn and Brandon Marcengill when another child discovered the twins at the bottom of the pool after unlocking a gate around the pool.

The child was given a key to the gate.

Authorities said Caleb was declared dead after arriving at the hospital on Saturday afternoon.

Ezekiel was on life support until Sunday afternoon.

The Associated Press reported that the coroner said he thinks the boys were in the water for 15 to 20 minutes.

Anderson County Deputy Coroner Don McCown told The Independent Mail he thinks the boys may have slipped through an opening in the fencing.

Brown-Oglesby Funeral Home has an online guestbook where messages of condolences can be left for the family.

According to a GoFundMe page set up to help the family with medical and burial costs, the twins are survived by their brother, Bryce, and sister, Gabriella, in addition to their parents.
