A 5-year-old boy's "Up"-themed photo shoot featuring his great-grandparents has captured the hearts of thousands online.

Photographer Rachel Perlman told her son, Elijah, that he could have a themed photo shoot for his fifth birthday, Fox 5 DC reported.

Elijah loves the Disney-Pixar movie "Up" -- so much so, that he will only watch the 2009 Disney movie and play with "Up" toys, his mother told Fox 5 DC. Naturally, Elijah chose "Up" as the theme for his photo shoot.

Elijah dressed in a "Junior Wilderness Explorer" costume, like the character Russell, and held balloons. Perlman enlisted the help of her grandparents to dress as the characters Carl and Ellie.

The family was thrilled with the result.

"What a fun time and wonderful photos to commemorate Elijah's favorite thing!" Perlman said in a Facebook post. "I am so glad Elijah will have these special photos to treasure with his GREAT Grandparents!"

Since she posted the photos to Facebook on Tuesday, they have gone viral. As of Thursday evening, the post had been liked 1,100 times.

Elijah's twin sister, Emilee, also had a birthday photo shoot. She opted for a princess theme.

Perlman was diagnosed with cancer shortly after her twins were born and when her older child was 5, she told CBS News. She's now in remission, and wanted to celebrate her twins turning 5 in a big way.

"It's a celebration for me and them!" she said.
