Kazoo was surrendered at the Wisconsin Humane Society when he was a puppy, WITI-TV reported. The shelter had been trying to find a forever home for the 1-year-old dog since January, but had been unsuccessful.

"Everyone has that reaction -- 'Oh, he's so cute. He's so playful,'" Humane Society adoption counselor Joe Sinicki told the TV station in March. "But they're just not ready to take on the responsibility."

On Tuesday, officials with the Humane Society announced Kazoo had finally been adopted by Home For Life Animal Sanctuary in Star Prairie, Wisconsin, which provides homes for dogs and cats that have been unable to find adoptive homes. The pup moved into his new place over the weekend, and is reportedly acclimating well and making new friends.

"Kazoo truly didn't hit it off with the dogs he met at WHS, at his previous shelter in Portage or in potential adoptive homes (he was even stressed out by the smell of neighbor dogs in one home)," Humane Society officials wrote in a Facebook post. "But once he got to Home for Life, he found buddies who could match him tackle for tackle."

Kazoo now has 40 acres of living space to romp around in, WITI reported.

“Thanks to the generous donors who wanted to support Kazoo, he left with a box full of toys to help him get settled in,” the Humane Society said in the Facebook post.
