Despite her circumstances, Bella is a happy pug.

She spent 9 months at a vet after her owners failed to follow instructions for care when the 6-year old pug had surgery for broken elbows.

Her limbs never properly healed and the only option was to remove them.

While the owners declined the amputation, they agreed to surrender Bella to Pug Nation, a rescue group in Los Angeles, which got the dog the necessary surgery in September.

Bella has since recovered. She was put into a foster home where she was adopted and is living a healthy life, whether she's running on two legs or walking like a penguin.
