Members of the Down Syndrome of Louisville recently created a lip-sync video of the Backstreet Boys' song, "I Want it That Way." The video went viral and caught the attention of the band, who put together a meet-and-greet session with the group before Friday night's concert, WLKY reported.
The boy band, riding a 1990s wave of nostalgia, has been traveling nationwide this summer on its largest arena tour in 18 years, WAVE-TV reported.
The Down Syndrome of Louisville members received VIP backstage passes at the KFC Yum! Center in Louisville and got to take pictures and sing with band members, the television station reported.
Sam Rosch told Backstreet Boys member Nick Carter that the Louisville group named its band "Backstreet Dreams," WAVE reported.
“I think my band Backstreet Dreams might go on tour with the Backstreet Boys,” Rosch told the television station.
Before the concert, the Louisville group received a video message from band member Kevin Richardson, WLKY reported.
"The passion, the joy, the soul that you put in that video was inspiring," Richardson said.
