It may have been decades since they set foot in a classroom but residents at a Spokane retirement community are still taking part in the annual first day of school photoshoots.

Riverview Retirement Community residents posed with chalkboards that listed their name, age and the year they graduated from high school, KXLY reported.

They also passed on some words of advice for those still in school.

Marlene reminded students, "Don't do drugs and don't drink too much ... but have fun."

BJ, who is 94, reminds students to "Keep movin'!"

While Judy lives by the Golden Rule, saying, "Treat others the way you'd like to be treated."

Some of the residents of the retirement community are passing down their words of wisdom to the classes at their alma maters, but others have relocated from other parts of the country like North Carolina, KREM reported.
