Authorities in Oregon arrested a Colorado man on suspicion of driving while intoxicated Tuesday after he jumped a curb and slammed into an apartment building, hitting a crib with a sleeping baby inside, according to Eugene police.

Police said the baby was uninjured after Tyler Cole Eiman, 27, crashed into the building while apparently drunk, The Oregonian reported. The force of the impact pushed the baby's crib to the side, police said.

Authorities were called to respond to the crash just before 8 p.m. Tuesday. Police said Eiman lost control of a vehicle while driving near Bailey Hill Road and 18th Avenue. The vehicle skidded over a curb and through a yard before striking the apartment building, hitting the bedroom where the baby was sleeping, investigators said.

Several other people were in the home when the crash happened, and police said no one was injured. One of the two passengers in the vehicle Eiman was driving suffered minor injuries, police said.

Eiman fled after the crash, and authorities said he was caught a short time later. He was taken to a hospital for treatment of injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening.

Police arrested Eiman and charged him with driving under the influence of intoxicants, felony hit-and-run, second-degree criminal mischief, reckless driving and six counts of reckless endangering.

Records from Lane County Jail show Eiman remained jailed Friday.
