An Amber Alert issued in relation to the kidnapping has been canceled.

According to a release from Upper Merion Township police, officers responded to the food court area of the King of Prussia plaza for a reported abduction around 5:45 p.m. Thursday. The Upper Merion police chief told NBC10 the 7-week-old baby boy, identified as Ahsir Simmons, was kidnapped by a stranger at the mall.

Ahsir's mother told NBC10 the suspect befriended her and her children and they all went to the food court together. When Ahsir began to cry, the suspect asked the mother if she could calm him down. The suspect then held Ahsir as the mom took a phone call, investigators told NBC10. The suspect then walked out of the mall with Ahsir in her arms, police said.

Police released a surveillance photo of the suspect leaving the mall while carrying the baby boy.
