A 15-year-old boy from Mount Holly received a huge surprise during the Coca-Cola 600 weekend.
Jake Bynum, who is autistic, finds comfort in the support of his family, his service dog and all things racing. He is in his first year of high school, attending two classes at school and two at home. Jake is a huge NASCAR fan and enjoys sharing his knowledge about the sport. His favorite driver is Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Dream On 3, a Charlotte wish-granting organization that makes sports dreams come true for children with chronic illnesses, developmental disabilities and life-altering conditions, helped Jake's dream to meet Earnhardt, Jr. and see his pit crew up close come true this weekend.
Jake spent time with Earnhardt Jr. on Saturday. He was also able to meet Kasey Kahne.
The teen, who also loves roller coasters and Legos, participates in a pre-employment program at a local bakery.
His send-off Sunday began from the bakery. He rode to Charlotte Motor Speedway in a limousine.
Jake made new friends at the speedway, and also became a member of the No. 88 pit crew.
He also signed the wall at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
Dream On 3 granted another boy's wish during the 2014 May races. Edwin Hernandez, 11, received a heart transplant from Levine Children's Hospital. He spent time last year with his favorite driver Joey Logano.
