Police have made an arrest in their investigation of a woman’s body found stuffed in a suitcase, dumped alongside a Connecticut road.
But the cause of death of the woman, Valerie Reyes, whose feet and hands were bound, has yet to be determined, NBC News reported.
Police arrested Javier de Silva, 24, Monday night in Queens, New York, ABC News reported.
Greenwich Police Capt. Robert Berry said de Silva, a former boyfriend of Reyes, used her ATM card illegally, according to ABC News.
Reyes was reported missing after being last seen on Jan. 29. Her body was found Feb. 5 about 12 miles north of her hometown of New Rochelle, New York, in Greenwich, Connecticut.
Reyes mother, Norma Sanchez, told WABC her daughter, "...Was just really scared, very frightened...fearing for her life."
But Sanchez said it wasn’t anyone specific her daughter was afraid of.
"No one specific. She just mentioned, 'I am really, really scared. I'm really paranoid, Mommy. I am getting anxiety attacks,'" Sanchez told WABC.
