Army officer barred from entering daughter’s school in uniform

An Army officer who has served for 24 years, including tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, says a high school security guard stopped him from entering his daughter's high school because he was in uniform, and school officials said military uniforms were not allowed.

Baker said the security officer and four other school workers told him he could phone in to the office or go home and change clothes, but he was not allowed on campus in uniform.

Baker said he and his wife had simply gone to the school to sort out an issue involving their daughter’s class schedule.

Baker was not allowed in, but he did eventually get an apology from the city's school superintendent, Robert Shaner, a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps.
