An Arkansas school district made the unanimous decision to drop its mascot and fight song over the debate of racism and symbols that is facing the nation.
Tuesday night, all six members of the Fort Smith Public school board voted in favor of replacing its Rebel mascot and "Dixie" fight song, KNWA reported.

After the meeting, the board posted to its Facebook page that it will stop using the song next school year, while the mascot will be removed the following year.

Some are supporting the school's decision, but there are some who are calling it "a knee jerk reaction" in response to the Facebook post.
