The St. Marys Police Department is investigating after pills were found in Snickers candy bars.
A family reportedly found two pills in a bite-size and a "fun-size" Snickers bar.
Police say one of the pills is Risperdal (risperidone), an anti-psychotic medication used to treat schizophrenia and symptoms of bipolar disorder. The side effects include headache, dizziness, drowsiness, tremors, twitching, uncontrollable muscle movements, agitation, anxiety, restlessness, depressed mood, dry mouth, upset stomach, constipation and pain in arms or legs.
The second pill is loratadine, according to police. Loratadine is an antihistamine and the side effects are insomnia, dry mouth, headache, somnolence, nervousness, dizziness and fatigue.
Police are encouraging parents to examine the packaging of children’s Halloween candy. Parents are even encouraged to slice the candy into pieces before anyone eats it.
