Authorities may have seen the thief, and gotten photographic evidence, but they probably won’t be able to catch it — mainly because it is an alligator.
The gator was photographed in Hendry County on Friday with a watermelon in its mouth and an eye on a nearby creek, the Florida Agricultural Crimes Intelligence Unit reports. While some commenters thought the image was manipulated by Photoshop, the Ag Unit was adamant that the photo was indeed real.
Alligators have been storming Florida beaches lately with one being brought in by a fishing pole in Amelia Island and another in Fort Myers. A Lake Worth driver was found with an alligator foot in his dashboard earlier this month.
