Joint Base Andrews was placed on lockdown Thursday morning after a report of an active shooter.

The notice was posted shortly after 9 a.m. ET.

All personnel were directed to shelter in place.

There was a planned active shooter drill today, but the base said on Twitter that reports of a real-world active shooter came in during the drill, prompting the alert.

An all clear was given to base personnel around 10:40 a.m. ET.
