Police believe a 31-year-old man found dead of a single gunshot wound to the head may have been accidentally shot by his toddler son.
Hoover Police Cpt. Gregg Rector told reporters other possibilities were being considered but there did not appear to be an intruder or other person involved.
An adult family member returned home from work Tuesday afternoon and discovered the apparently accidental shooting, according to another report.
CNN identified the adult family member who called police as the victim's wife.
Police said they would release the victim’s identity and further details on Wednesday.
