An Alabama man has been charged with attempted murder after he set his wife on fire during a fight, authorities said.
Johnny Lee Gray III, 45, of Montgomery, is being held in the Montgomery County Jail in lieu of $60,000 bond, according to WSFA.
The charge stems from a Feb. 16 argument at the couple's home that turned physical, the news station reported. At some point in the fight, Gray threw rubbing alcohol on his wife.
He then ignited the alcohol, an arrest affidavit obtained by WSFA alleged.
According to the Montgomery Advertiser, responding police officers found Gray's 44-year-old wife suffering from life-threatening burns. The affidavit obtained by WSFA indicated the victim was burned over 50 percent of her body.
Gray was also burned in the incident and spent more than a month in the hospital. He was arrested Friday upon his release from the hospital, the Advertiser reported.
His wife’s current condition was not released.
