Juelz Trice, a seventh grader at Berry Miller Junior High School, was told the shape of his hair carving was a dress code violation and he would be suspended if he did not color it, KTRK reported.

"(The administrator) came over and said, 'You have two options: You can either go to (in-school suspension) or color it in,'" Trice told KTRK. "Everyone was coming up to me. It was like the talk of the school that day and the day after."

The dress code states that "extreme hair styles such as carvings, mohawks, spikes, etc. are not allowed," KTRK reported. But a policy to discipline violators is not outlined.

The school district said it does not condone the administrator's behavior, KTRK reported.

Trice’s parents are frustrated over the incident.

"When it first happened, I was very upset because I didn't find out until after he got off the bus and he got into the car and said, 'Look what they did to my head,'" Trice's mother, Angela Washington, told KTRK.

"I'm totally disappointed," his father, Dante Trice, told KTRK. "Totally disappointed."

Washington said the administrator, who was placed on administrative leave, has since apologized.

"But it still happened," she told KTRK. "You know, for an adult, no one should think that's the correct way to handle a situation."

Although embarrassed over the incident, Juelz Trice has returned to school.
