Police are frantically trying to track down a 300-year-old violin worth millions of dollars that was stolen Monday night.
WISN reports the $6 million Lipinski Stradivarius was on loan to violinist and concertmaster Frank Almond of the Milwaukee Symphany Orchestra.
According to WLUK, Almondå played the rare violin during a performance at Wisconsin Lutheran College in Milwaukee Monday night.
But as he was leaving the venue, something awful happened.
"Police say he walked out of the concert and noticed another vehicle backed in next to his. Soon, two suspects jumped from that car, hit him with a Taser, he dropped the violin and they took off with it." (Via WBTW)
Police told WITI the suspects took off in a late 1980s or early 1990s maroon minivan. They also said Almond's iPad and the violin's case were found dumped in the street later that night.
Milwaukee's police chief says the thieves could have a hard time selling the stolen instrument.
"This violin is very valuable, but very valuable to a very small population." (Via WTMJ)
Milwaukee police reported the FBI is now involved in the hunt for the missing violin. They say Almond is shaken up from the incident, but he is in good condition and expected to be okay.
