Some residents of Conover were nervous Tuesday after a black bear was spotted outside a fast-food restaurant and on Interstate 40.
Channel 9 caught video of the 130-pound bear after it climbed a tree near Fairgrove Church Road.
Police said the bear had been spotted earlier on Interstate 40 and in the parking lot of a nearby Wendy's.

State biologists believe that a car might have struck the bear before it climbed the tree.
"They're using the river corridors to travel back and forth through different areas, and crossing the interstate, the bear thought he could make it to this wood patch,” North Carolina wildlife biologist Danny Ray said.
After more than two hours, the black bear, which is about a year and a half old, climbed out of the tree and headed toward Highway 70.
