Officials in Washington state said 110 cats and kittens found in a 32-foot travel trailer Friday afternoon had to be euthanized.

Snohomish County Animal Control Services had to seize and remove the animals found in the trailer on Ebey Island.

Officials said the cats and kittens were found living in unsanitary conditions without food or water. The animals showed signs of illness, and blood tests confirmed that the animals were diseased and contagious. All the animals had to be euthanized.

According to officials, the 55-year-old owner is believed to be homeless and had failed to correct the sanitation and containment conditions, reduce the number of animals and provide veterinary medical care.

The trailer was moved from several locations around the country and it was discovered on Wednesday parked in a field on Ebey Island.

No arrests have been made.
