The secret to longevity, you might be surprised to learn, has nothing to do with exercise, great medical care or drinking lots of water.
At least if you ask one centenarian.
A Texas woman celebrating her 104th birthday said she's outsmarted Father Time and Mother Nature by imbibing her favorite beverage for the past 40 years – Dr. Pepper.
“Every doctor that sees me says they’ll kill you. But they die, and I don’t, so there must be a mistake somewhere,” Annie Sullivan said.
She drinks at least three Dr. Peppers per day. Her family even surprised her with a Dr. Pepper-themed cake for her birthday. She also received a gift basket from Dr. Pepper Snapple CEO Larry Young.
“When you live to be 104, and can still talk to nice people, you deserve some Dr. Peppers,” she said.
Sullivan might be on to something.
A recent report said Oklahoma billionaire Warren Buffet also has some questionable dietary choices.
He says he drinks five Coca Colas per day.
“I’m one quarter Coca Cola,” Buffett said.
Why?
“I checked the actuarial tables, and the lowest death rate is among six-year-olds,” he said. “So I decided to eat like a six-year-old.”
