Bill Nunn, character actor from “Spider-Man” and Spike Lee films, died Saturday, September 24, 2016 at his home in Pittsburgh, according to The Associated Press. He was 62.

His wife, Donna, told The Associated Press Nunn had been battling cancer.

Nunn’s memorable roles include newspaper editor Robbie Robertson in director Sam Raimi’s “Spider-Man” trilogy (2002 – 2007) and the pivotal role of Radio Raheem in Spike Lee’s “Do the Right Thing” (1989).

Nunn was a 1976 graduate of Atlanta's Morehouse College. College president John S. Wilson Jr. tweeted about Nunn's death, noting an ironic connection to today's headlines.

"Ironically for these times one of Bill's most notable roles is Radio Raheem the blk man who died from police brutality," Wilson tweeted. "R.I.P. Morehouse Man."
