Vice President Joe Biden has joined Facebook and made history.
It is the first time that a U.S. vice president has had an official Facebook page.
President Barack Obama joined Facebook last fall.
Biden hopes the Facebook page will "be a place where we can talk directly about the issues that matter to both of us."
The page officially debuted Wednesday evening, with a cover photo post showing Biden at his desk, with a pair of sunglasses prominently displayed.
Biden posted a lengthy introduction message Thursday, marking World Cancer Day and discussing his Cancer Moonshot Initiative.
Biden’s son Beau died from brain cancer in 2015.
