Trump discusses his health while taping 'The Dr. Oz Show'
Donald Trump surprised the audience gathered Wednesday to watch him tape an hour-long interview for "The Dr. Oz Show" when he revealed the results of a recent physical exam just hours after an aide told news outlets he wouldn't talk about the exam.
In a news release Wednesday, representatives of "The Dr. Oz Show" said Trump discussed his physical with Mehmet Oz. It was performed last week by Dr. Harold Bornstein, a doctor at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York and Trump's long-time physician.
A campaign spokeswoman told CNN that Trump "handed Dr. Oz a one-page summary of the physical exam."
Oz also went through "a full review of systems" with Trump, including his family's medical history, according to show representatives.
Trump's daughter, Ivanka, also appeared during the taping.
Trump said in an interview Monday on "Fox & Friends" that he planned to release "very, very" specific information from a physical exam that he took last week amid ongoing scrutiny of his health and that of Democratic rival Hillary Clinton.
Fox News reported that the results of his recent physical would be shared with the public during the GOP nominee's appearance on "The Dr. Oz Show." The interview was taped Wednesday and scheduled to air on Thursday.
Trump's senior campaign aides said in a conference call Wednesday that his conversation with Oz would not touch on the exam. Instead, it would focus on "well-being, being active and positive thinking," Bloomberg News reported.
In an interview Tuesday on Fox News Radio's "Kilmeade & Friends," Oz said he would not ask the GOP nominee "questions he doesn't want to have answered."
"It's his personal records," Oz said. "I want to ask him pointed questions about his health. … (But) I'm not going to ask him questions he doesn't want to have answered, and I also don't want to talk about anybody else."
Trump, 70, has raised questions multiple times over the course of his campaign about whether Clinton, 68, is healthy enough to serve in the White House. Public scrutiny sharpened last weekend when Clinton stumbled into a van after abruptly leaving a 9/11 commemoration in New York.
Her doctor later said she was diagnosed with pneumonia last week. She is recovering at her home.
"Something's going on, but I just hope she gets well and gets back on the trail and we'll be seeing her at the debate," Trump said Monday on "Fox & Friends."
