A woman has been arrested in the slaying of a Colorado postal worker just one day after three U.S. Postal Service employees were found shot to death in Memphis, Tennessee.
Wednesday’s deadly shooting happened about noon at Heatherhill Street and Renaissance Drive in Longmont, where police officers found a postal employee mortally wounded in front of a row of neighborhood mailboxes, reports say.
KKTV identified the suspect as 26-year-old Devan Schreiner.
Authorities say she is the ex-girlfriend of the victim whom has not yet been identified, according to Colorado Public Radio, which cited a statement by the Longmont Department of Public Safety.
The woman who allegedly pulled the trigger fled the scene but was taken into custody after police used a K-9 to track her down, CPR reported.
Witnesses told police that the suspect was dressed in dark clothing, including a hoodie and blue mask, CNN reported citing Longmont Police Deputy Chief Jeff Satur.
Schreiner is being held at the Boulder County Jail, reports said.
Police have not revealed a motive and are continuing to investigate along with the U.S. Postal Inspection Service.
The deadly shooting in Memphis on Tuesday happened at the East Lamar Carrier Annex facility, where two postal employees died in an apparent double murder-suicide.
Another postal worker was shot to death Oct. 7 in front of a house in Collier Township, Pennsylvania, according to The Associated Press.
