About 50 KFC locations in California will sell plant-based versions of its famous fried chicken.

CNN reported the chain is offering the Beyond Meat item at locations in Los Angeles, Orange County and San Diego next week.

The item will be available while supplies last. The company plans to expand the offering nationally if the test goes well.

Last year, KFC offered Beyond Fried Chicken at a Smyrna location near Truist Park. It was available Aug. 27 with the purchase of any item while supplies lasted. In February, it was also on the menu at locations in Kentucky, Tennessee and North Carolina for a three-week test run.
